I volunteer in the Jewish Community because I have always missed that outstanding Israeli atmosphere in Prague - the one I feel whenever I am in Israel. At JCC, I discovered an oasis that is a mini Israel in the center of Prague. Everyone in the JCC is so warm and welcoming, and I am privileged to be a part of them.

Meanwhile, I am convinced that nowadays, in the context of rising antisemitism, it is essential not to remain passive. That's exactly why I do this and why I'm hoping others from Prague and the surrounding area will get involved. When we pool our efforts, we can make the world a better place for all.

Shortly after I moved to Prague, I connected with the JCC and volunteered to help and participate in various community events to the best of my ability. This involvement opened many doors for me and made the transition much easier - from meeting new people and discovering new opportunities, to getting a small taste of home, which is always important for those of us living in the diaspora.

A heartfelt thank you to everyone at the JCC - you’ve made this adventure meaningful and enriching.

I love being part of something bigger and greater than myself - like the JCC, a community that works to make our community healthier and closer among its people.

During the recent "Israel on the River" festival, I assisted in the book booth. It was gratifying to see the enthusiasm of the attendees regarding the books we had brought with us, and their curiosity and interest towards Israeli and Hebrew culture.

Jiří Prokeš

As I spent a significant portion of my life as an advertising photographer, I realized that I could use my skills now to uplift spirits and preserve memories for my Jewish friends during these challenging times. That’s why I photograph not only for JCC Prague but also for EC CHAJIM and the JEWISH MUSEUM IN PRAGUE.

Perhaps for some of my Jewish friends, it helps them hold onto a cherished memory, or simply brings a good mood with a successful photo. Or perhaps it documents a significant event. After all, it’s always just life captured in a unique moment.
